Social and Cultural Development

Participants of the MIB Saturday program will receive expert instruction and will participate in arts development through theater, creative writing, dance, and step classes, while focusing on social and cultural development. The talented youth will learn how to engage in the arts and apply these skills in everyday settings.

Learn about group dynamics, collective efforts, how to communicate their ideas, and trust the ideas of others.
Learn how to be where they are supposed to be, when they are scheduled to be there.
Learn how to commit themselves to a course of action and see it through to completion.
Learn how to follow directions, agree to disagree, trust others, and how to build healthy working relationships.
Rate themselves in the overall session and have an honest dialogue on what they excelled at while recognizing areas where they can improve on.
Be provided with a full breakfast or brunch meal offering and a snack

Theater Program

Youth will be introduced to various acting styles, designed to improve confidence, creative thinking, self-expression, effective communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Creative Writing

An outlet for youth to express their thoughts and feelings, while having their voices heard. Starting with writing prompts, youth will learn to express themselves through numerous writing styles...

Step & Dance
  • 2pm - 3pm

A co-ed group where participants use their bodies as instruments through a mixture of concise movement involving footsteps, spoken word, chants, hand claps and dance.

Hip Hop Dance
  • 4pm - 6pm
  • -

Students learn hip-hop dance principles such as rhythm, body isolations, coordination, and choreography to hip hop/pop music in this high-energy session.

Youth/Family Socials
  • 7pm - 8pm
  • -

Families and youth will enjoy healthy extracurricular opportunities such as talent shows, dances, socials or “girls” or “boys night out” on Friday evenings.
