Mentors Inspiring Boys & Girls (MIB) is an artistic and character development program for young people ages 8 – 18. Students study theater arts, creative writing, spoken word, step and hip-hop dance. MIB provides an alternative to the streets, working with youth to channel their frustration into positive, constructive behavior and creative expression. We provide a safe, fun environment that nurtures youth to feel comfortable expressing their feelings, fears and aspirations. By developing their creative talent, they develop effective stress management and conflict resolution skills.
MIB youth have been invited to perform and an events throughout the community and won first place in the Miss Sweet Potato Pie Talent Competition. Our children have even gone to Albany to petition the state legislature for more funding for our schools.
The primary program currently runs on Saturdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Edgerton Recreation Center and includes a hot breakfast. In addition to the Saturday program, MIB hosts plays, community workshops and other special eventsSee Shows and Programs
